Here’s What’s Cooking!

Culinary Tips:

Proper meal planning and food preparation can be very time-consuming. The following tips can definitely spare much valuable time on a bustling weekday, but especially on the Preparation Day for the Sabbath. Weather you are an experienced cook or just a beginner, you just might find some of these “tips for cooking” to be worth the knowing and exploring.

Cooking your own food permits you to control segment sizes and ingredients selections. It is also more economical. However, learning and adapting to all that slashing, cutting, and dicing can be quite challenging, if not intimidating, to some. So here are some of the cooking secrets that you can use in every-day cooking:

Adding Salt
For a more even distribution, try sprinkling salt from high above the food. Even putting a little bit of salt from a closer point can result in its sticking to this or that item on the plate or in the pot. For healthiest results, use authentic sea salt such as Celtic sea salt.

🍅 Storing your tomatoes 🍅
Refrigerating tomatoes will kill their flavor and alter their juicy consistency. For better results keep tomatoes on a counter to permit them to ripen more naturally.

📝 Plan Beforehand 📆
Planning your meal a day ahead can eliminate the “What’s for the dinner” syndrome. This also can save you time and money by planning around ingredients already available.

🔪 Use The Right Equipment 🌡
It is very important to use appropriate and well-conditioned tools for each task. This practice bas time-saving and multiple other benefits. Using the wrong tools such as dull knives or ineffective pot-holders, can result in serious accidents, or wasting time on very simple tasks. So have a good knowledge of culinary tools and keep them handy before you start your food preparation.

Storing Spices
Since dampness, light, and heat will cause herbs and spices to lose their flavor, it is best to store them in a cool, dark area, and not over your stove.

🍄 Storing Mushrooms 🍄
Because the standard plastic tubs provide an abundace of moisture whicb is a slime-sentence for mushrooms, and paper packages are more effective in keeping them clean and dry, storing them this way is a sure winner.

Garlic-Hands??
In the wake of working with garlic, rub your hands vivaciously on your stainless steel sink for 30 seconds before washing them. It will expel the smell.

Deep-frying
Hold every piece of food with long tongs as you add it to the oil. Holding it in place just underneath the oil’s surface for five seconds before discharging it will seal the outside and prevent it from adhering to the pot.

IIce your greens
Limp lettuce is just unacceptable, and we all know it. So you can re-hydrate and refresh your leaves by separating and submerging them in a sinkful of frosted water for anywhere between 5 and 30 mins, depending on how dismal they are looking.

🍦 Storing Ice Cream 🍦
A plastic cooler sack keeps the cold air from invading your ice cream and making it rock-hard. If you appreciate soft ice cream, you will not mind taking the additional step. Try expelling as much as air out of the bag as possible, before placing it in the freezer.

Keep Your Cutting Board From Sliding
To keep your cutting board from sliding around on the counter whilst using that sharp knife, place a wet paper towel or damp dish-cloth or towel under your board. This should teach it to keep its place!….

Here’s What’s Cooking!

2. Totally Plant-Based Delicious Pound Cake!

[This recipe is short – only 10 basic ingredients! But this post is a bit lengthy because it is written to assist any recipient who might like to do a presentation/demonstration of it.]

Needed:
~ Bundt cake-pan
~ Large mixing bowl
~ Large measuring Cup
~ Wooden (preferably bamboo!) mixing spoon
~ measuring spoons
~ Spatula (flexible)
~ Prayer! [Just sharing my custom with you. The LORD graciously directs and answers my prayers before and during this delightful activity. Thus, it becomes a witnessing tool for Him, and He receives all of the glory and praise!!!]

Prep. time: 10 to 15 mins

Ahead of time:
~ Lightly grease bundt pan with coconut oil and flour lightly with all-purpose flour

Ingredients and Method

Dry Ingredients:
~ 2 Cups unbleached all-purpose flour
~ 1 Cup white whole wheat flour (if not avalable, regular whole wheat will do)
~ 1 to 1 3/4 Cups raw sugar (My favourite? Florida crystals!)
~ 2 teaspoons baking powder (Never used it yet, but best choice might be the Ener-G brand which contains no aluminum or baking soda! Currently using next-best: Rumford which has no aluminum.)
~ 1 teaspoon sea salt (My favourite? Celtic!)
☞ In the large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the above dry ingredients
☞ Make a well in the centre of the mixture, then place in the centre (mix in at this point, only if dried fruit!):
~ 1/2 Cup of selected fruit (dried/flesh/jellied with berries, etc.)*
☞ Set this mixture aside

Liquid Ingredients:
~ 3/4 Cup coconut (or other healthful) oil
~ 3/4 Cup coconut (or other nut- or seed-) milk ~ 1/2 – 1 Cup selected fruit juice
~ 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
~ 1 teaspoon almond extract
~ 1 or 2 Tablespoons of liquid soy lecithin (“Guesstimated”, since the product sticks tenaciously to any utensil!)
☞ Pour the above ingredients into the large measuring cup and set aside

Heat oven to 350°F

Quickly (time is of the essence; the prepared batter should be baked asap!)
combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl:
~ Pour liquid ingredients into centre-well of dry ingredients
~ Using the back of the wooden mixing spoon (the batter adheres less!), gently fold the ingredients together for a few turns, only until all liquids are absorbed
~ The batter should not be very runny
~ Transfer the batter to the prepared bundt pan
~ Bake at 350°F for 45 to 60 minutes (time depends on your oven)
~ Transfer from oven unto a cooling rack when bamboo-skewer test is clean
~ Remove cake from pan when cooled, by covering the pan with an inverted dinner plate (large enough!) and then flipping both. Cake will safely land on plate!
~ If necessary, use a flexible spatula to gently nudge cake from pan along the outer and inner sides, and then try again.

Please enjoy in the LORD!
May He richly bless as you graciously share the blessings of this recipe with others.
Who knows if the LORD might not use it to bring some precious soul into His everlasting kingdom?!

NOTES
By God’s grace, many fruit selections have been successfully tried, including avocado which gives the cake a creamy consistency.
☞ When the fruit juice is not available, a 1/2 Cup of water will work.
☞ Liquid soy lecithin is optional but gives the cake a buttery flavour and a desirable consistency
☞ Please be encouraged to experiment with the flour, sugar, and liquid measurements until you make this recipe your own!
Pineapple:
~ Fresh pineapple flesh (about 3/4 Cup) and juice (1/2 Cup) may be used, or:
~ 1 8-oz can of pineapple tidbits
~ Drain and save the 1/2 Cup of juice for the recipe.
~ Cutting the tidbits in half will facilitate the eventual slicing of the cake for serving!
Cranberry:
~ 2/3 to 3/4 of a 16-oz can of jellied cranberry sauce with the berries
~ The required 1/2 Cup of healthful cranberry juice
~ A hand full or so, of the dried cranberries

Storage:
~ This cake may dry out easily if not kept enclosed
~ Because this cake contains no butter or eggs, however, it can safely be stored at a cool room temperature for quite a while in a cake carrier or on a cake stand!

All About Alfalfa – And More!

Known also as a tonic herb, alfalfa offers extensive health-support benefits through its more than 300 nutrient-rich properties. These are nutrients such as the essential vitamins (inclusive of vitamin A, the complete B-vitamin spectrum, vitamins D, E, K, and U); biotin; calcium; iron; magnesium; niacin; phosphorous; potassium.
Also included are eight essential enzymes which facilitate the bioavailability of ingested foods, namely: amylase (digestion of starches); coagulase (conversion of proteins); lipase (catabolism of fats); emulsin (release of sugars); invertase (conversion of cane sugar to dextrose); pectinase (catabolism of carbohydrates); peroxidate (oxidisation of blood); and, protase (digestion of proteins). Additionally, alfalfa’s supply of chlorophyl is four times greater than that of any other vegetable source.

Chlorophyl
● Chlorophyl is a green pigment, present in all green plants. It plays an important role in the health of plants as it is responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis. It also supplies that rich, deep-green pigment found in green leafy vegetables such as callaloo or kale. Chlorophyl contains vitamins, antioxidants, and therapeutic properties which are beneficial to one’s body.
● As indicated by the results of various clinical and other research studies, the health benefits of chlorophyl may include:
1. Accelareted recovery time for skin wounds in tandem with reduction of inflammation (redness and swelling) due to the decrease in bacterial growth, which reults from –
2. Blood-building by improving the quality of red blood cells
3. Cancer prevention through stimulation of the immune system
4. Control of body and faecal odours
5. Cleansing of the intestines
6. Detoxification of the blood
7. Elimination of fungus from the body
8. Energising of the body
7. Management of body weight, through the:
8. Management/suppression of food cravings and the:
9. Management/suppression of hunger
10. Natural deodorant

Enzymes
Working as catalysts, these help to enhance the digestive process by breaking down ingested vitamins and nutrients to build cells, as well as in reactions that transform energy into a usable source for one’s body. As such, they also play an essentioal role in support of one’s immune system. The food we consume contains protein, fats, carbohydrates and macronutrients; in order to prevent indigestion and/or inadequate absorption which could result in malnutrition and adversely affect the good or the bad bacteria in the digestive tract, these food nutrients must be broken down and made absorbable to our body, by enzymes.

Food sources of these essential enzymes include:
● Avocado
● Banana
● Mango
● Papaya
● Pineapple
● Turmuric
● Watermelon

Health Benefits of these enzymes include:
● Bone health promotion
● Boosting of immune system
● Cardiovascular health
● Diabetes treatment regimen
● Healthy skin
● Increased metabolic rate
● Joint inflammation prevention
● Leaky-gut syndrome prevention
● Liver health
● Stomach inflammation prevention/treatment
● Weight loss

Conversely, Symptoms of an inadequate intake of essential enzynes can include:
● “Allergies” (a damaging immune response by the body to a substance, especially pollen, fur, a particular food, or dust, to which it has become hypersensitive or sensitised; hypersensitivity)
● Bloating (especially after meals)
● Cholesterol imbalances
● Constipation and/or diarrhoea
● Decreased energy
● Excessive flatus (gas)
● Heartburn/indigestion
● Inflammation and pain
● Insomnia/trouble sleeping well
● Skin problems

Since ingested enzymes are destroyed as soon as they fulfill their purpose, they must be replaced on a continual basis, to maintain optimal health and thus prolong life.

Phytonutrients
These are some of the thousands of natural chemicals produced by plants and are also known as phytochemicals, “phyto” referring to the Greek word for plant. While they protect the plants from germs, fungi, bugs, UV radiation, and other threats, they also provide significant health-protecting qualities that benefit humans who consume plant foods. Common classes of phytonutrients include:

Phytonutrient Health Benefit features include those of:
Antininflammatory
Antioxidant
Blood pressure management
Immune boosting
Liver health-promotion

While their antioxidant qualities lead the pack in healthful benefits, phytonutrients are also known for other characteristics:

Types of phytonutrients

Phytonutrients are available in supplement form. However, they are best consumed as nutrient-rich foods, since supplements don’t provide all the necessary nutrients to sustain the body and, in rare cases of high dosage, can be toxic.

Concentrated Sources include:
Legumes, tree nuts, whole grains, and many spices. Since many phytonutrients also supply the pigment that gives food their deep hues, one can identify many phytonutrient-rich foods by looking for colourful foods; for example, blue or purlple foods uch as blueberries, blackberries and red cabbage – rich in flavonoids; yellow-orange foods such as carrots, winter squash, papaya, and melon – rich in beta-carotene; red or pink foods such as tomatoes, guava, watermelon – rich in lycopene; and green foods such as kale, spinach, callaloo, and collard greens – rich in chlorophyl.

However, because not every phytonutrient gives colour, it is important to not overlook certain off-white foods as well; for example, garlic onions and leeks are rich in powerful sulphur-containing phytonutrients.

Carotenoids
Carotenoids are pigments in plants that are responsible for the bright-colored hues of vegetables and fruits. There are more than 600 carotenoids, and they must be consumed through foods and sources of fat. Some common types of carotenoids include:

  • alpha-carotene
  • beta-carotene
  • beta-cryptoxanthin
  • lutein
  • lycopene
  • zeaxanthin

Carotenoids act as antioxidants, and some can be converted into vitamin A. They supportimmune system function, eye health, and reduce your risk of cancer. Some foods rich in carotenoids are:

Ellagic Acid

Ellagic acid is a phytochemical known for reducing cancer risk and lowering cholesterol. Ellagic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The highest levels of ellagic acid are present in raspberries. Other foods rich in this compound include:

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is found predominantly in grapes — specifically, the grape skin. This compound supports cardiovascular and cognitive health. Resveratrol has also been associated with increased cerebral blood flow.

Resveratrol can be found in other foods:

Flavonoids

Flavonoids are one of the largest groups of phytonutrients. This compound is rich in antioxidant properties and anticancer activity. There are many subgroups of flavonoids, including:

  • flavones
  • anthocyanins
  • flavanones
  • isoflavones
  • flavonols

Some foods rich in flavonoid compounds are:

Phytoestrogens

These compounds are associated with reducing the risk of cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis.

Phytoestrogen mimics estrogen in the body, which may be beneficial for women in relieving discomfort from hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms.

Be mindful of your intake of phytoestrogens and get to know how they may impact your body, as everyone is different.

Foods rich in phytoestrogen compounds include:

Glucosinolates

Glucosinolates are compounds found predominantly in cruciferous vegetables. They are known for helping to regulate inflammation, metabolic function, and stress responses. Glucosinolates have also been associated with cancer prevention. Studies in rats and mice found that the compounds that form from broken down glucosinololates inactivate carcinogens and protect cells from DNA damage. However, this has not been proven in human studies. Common foods rich in glucosinolates include:

Increasing the amount of phytonutrient-rich foods in your diet can boost antioxidant activity and your immune health.

Although these compounds are available in supplement form, they are best consumed through natural foods, specifically fruits and vegetables.

Wilt Thou Be Made Whole? — True Healing

“Bless the Lord, O my soul:
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
Who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;…
So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord executeth righteousness
And judgment for all that are oppressed….
He hath not dealt with us after our sins;
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities….
Like as a father pitieth his children,
So the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.
For He knoweth our frame;
He remembereth that we are dust.” Psalm 103:1 – 14

“Many of those who came to Christ for help had brought disease upon themselves, yet He did not refuse to heal them. And when virtue from Him entered into these souls, they were convicted of sin, and many were healed of their spiritual disease as well as of their physical maladies.” Ministry of Healing 73.1

” ‘Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.’ John 5:2, 3″

“Jesus was at Jerusalem. Walking alone in apparent meditation and prayer, He came to the pool. He saw the wretched sufferers watching for that which they supposed to be their only chance of cure. He longed to exercise His healing power and make every sufferer whole. But it was the Sabbath day. Multitudes were going to the temple for worship, and He knew that such an act of healing would so excite the prejudice of the Jews as to cut short His work. MH 81.3

“But the Saviour saw one case of supreme wretchedness. It was that of a man who had been a helpless cripple for thirty – eight years. His disease was in a great degree the result of his own evil habits and was looked upon as a judgment from God. Alone and friendless, feeling that he was shut out from God’s mercy, the sufferer had passed long years of misery. At the time when it was expected that the water would be troubled, those who pitied his helplessness would bear him to the porches. But at the favored moment he had no one to help him in. He had seen the rippling of the water, but had never been able to get farther than the edge of the pool. Others stronger than he would plunge in before him. The poor, helpless sufferer was unable to contend successfully with the scrambling, selfish crowd. His persistent efforts toward the one object, and his anxiety and continual disappointment, were fast wearing away the remnant of his strength. MH 81.4

“The sick man was lying on his mat and occasionally lifting his head to gaze at the pool, when a tender, compassionate face bent over him, and the words, ‘Wilt thou be made whole?’ arrested his attention. Hope came to his heart. He felt that in some way he was to have help. But the glow of encouragement soon faded. He remembered how often he had tried to reach the pool, and now he had little prospect of living till it should again be troubled. He turned away wearily, saying, ‘Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.’ MH 83.1

“Jesus bids him, ‘Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.’ Verses 6 – 8. With a new hope the sick man looks upon Jesus. The expression of His countenance, the tones of His voice, are like no other. Love and power seem to breathe from His very presence. The cripple’s faith takes hold upon Christ’s word. Without question he sets his will to obey, and, as he does this, his whole body responds. MH 84.1

“Every nerve and muscle thrills with new life, and healthful action comes to his crippled limbs. Springing to his feet, he goes on his way with firm, free step, praising God and rejoicing in his new – found strength.” MH 84.2

“Jesus had given the palsied man no assurance of divine help. The man might have said, ‘Lord, if Thou wilt make me whole, I will obey Thy word.’ He might have stopped to doubt, and thus have lost his one chance of healing. But no, he believed Christ’s word, believed that he was made whole; immediately he made the effort, and God gave him the power; he willed to walk, and he did walk. Acting on the word of Christ, he was made whole. MH 84.3

“By sin we have been severed from the life of God. Our souls are palsied. Of ourselves we are no more capable of living a holy life than was the impotent man capable of walking. Many realize their helplessness; they are longing for that spiritual life which will bring them into harmony with God, and are striving to obtain it. But in vain. In despair they cry, ‘O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from this body of death?’ Romans 7:24, margin. Let these desponding, struggling ones look up. The Saviour is bending over the purchase of His blood, saying with inexpressible tenderness and pity, ‘Wilt thou be made whole?’ He bids you arise in health and peace. Do not wait to feel that you are made whole. Believe the Saviour’s word. Put your will on the side of Christ. Will to serve Him, and in acting upon His word you will receive strength. Whatever may be the evil practice, the master passion which through long indulgence binds both soul and body, Christ is able and longs to deliver. He will impart life to the soul that is ‘dead in trespasses.’ Ephesians 2:1. He will set free the captive that is held by weakness and misfortune and the chains of sin.”
MH 84.4

Tips On Health

“Our bodies are Christ’s purchased possession, and we are not at liberty to do with them as we please. All who understand the laws of health should realize their obligation to obey these laws which God has established in their being….We must individually answer to God for our habits and practices. Therefore the question with us is not, ‘What is the world’s practice?’ but, ‘How shall I as an individual treat the habitation that God has given me?’ ” Ministry of Healing 310

● Mental
What we choose to think about, directly affects our physical health.
💡Proverbs 23:7
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:…”
💡Proverbs 4:23
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

● Physical
The physical health is reflected in the mental performance; they work in sympathy with one another.
💡(Daniel 1:3-20)
“And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
“Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
“And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
“Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
“Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
“Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
“And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
“Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
“Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
“–In taking this step, Daniel did not act rashly. He knew that by the time he was called to appear before the king, the advantage of healthful living would be apparent. Cause would be followed by effect. Daniel said to Melzar, who had been given charge of him and his companions: “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat and water to drink.” Daniel knew that ten days would be time enough to prove the benefit of abstemiousness. . . .” 4BC 1167.3
“Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
“So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
“And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
“Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
“As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
“Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
“And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
“And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.”
In turn, both the physical and the mental are directly affected for good or bad by the diet.

● Dietary
Lovely in = lovely out. We become what we consume.
💡 Deuteronomy 14:1-21  (Leviticus 11:1-47)
“Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
“Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
“These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
“The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.
“And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
“Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.
“These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
“And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.
“Of all clean birds ye shall eat.
“But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
“And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,
“And every raven after his kind,
“And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
“The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,
“And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,
“And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
“And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.
“But of all clean fowls ye may eat.
“Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.”
💡 Exodus 15:26
“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”
“Christ had been the guide and teacher of ancient Israel, and He taught them that health is the reward of obedience to the laws of God. The Great Physician who healed the sick in Palestine had spoken to His people from the pillar of cloud, telling them what they must do, and what God would do for them….When they fulfilled the conditions, the promise was verified to them.” Desire of Ages 824

● Moral
We are responsible to God, our Creator, for what we do with our body which is His temple!
💡 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
“If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
“From eternal ages it was God’s purpose that every created being, from the bright and holy seraph to man, should be a temple for the indwelling of the Creator. Because of sin, humanity ceased to be a temple for God. Darkened and defiled by evil, the heart of man no longer revealed the glory of the Divine One. But by the incarnation of the Son of God, the purpose of Heaven is fulfilled. God dwells in humanity, and through saving grace the heart of man becomes again His temple.” DA 161
💡 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
“All men have been bought with this infinite price. By pouring the whole treasury of heaven into this world, by giving us in Christ all heaven, God has purchased the will, the affections, the mind, the soul, of every human being. Whether believers or unbelievers, all men are the Lord’s property. All are called to do service for Him, and for the manner in which they have met this claim, all will be required to render an account at the great judgment day.” {COL 326.1}
“God Claims the Heart’s Throne—God has bought us, and He claims a throne in each heart. Our minds and bodies must be subordinated to Him, and the natural habits and appetites must be made subservient to the higher wants of the soul. But we can place no dependence upon ourselves in this work. We cannot with safety follow our own guidance. The Holy Spirit must renew and sanctify us. In God’s service there must be no halfway work.” (SpT, Series A, No. 7, p. 39). – {6BC 1088.5}
💡 2 Corinthians 5:10
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

● Spiritual
Confessing our faults to those whom we have wronged and praying one for another, facilitates our own healing!
💡 James 5:13-16
“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
💡 Matthew 5:23-24
“Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
“Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.”
💡 Colossians 3:12-17
“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

● Social
For the welfare of the human race, our wise, loving Creator wired us with social needs which, when adequately met, promote health and longevity.
💡 Genesis 2:18
“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
💡 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12
“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
“For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
💡 Proverbs 18:24
“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
💡 Hebrews 13:16
“But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

● Eternal
Being perfect, God’s original diet which pre-dates sin – is best. It will be the same and only one when He returns — SOON! It is compatible with eternal life!! It is VEGETARIAN (PLANT-BASED)!!!
💡 Genesis 1:29
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”
💡 Isaiah 65:25
“The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.”
💡 Revelation 22:1-2
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

By the way,…
“God’s miracles do not always bear the outward semblance of miracles. Often they are brought about in a way which looks like the natural course of events. When we pray for the sick, we also work for them. We answer our own prayers by using the remedies within our reach. Water, wisely applied, is a most powerful remedy. As it is used intelligently, favorable results are seen. God has given us intelligence, and He desires us to make the most of His health-giving blessings. We ask that God will give bread to the hungry; we are then to act as His helping hand in relieving hunger. We are to use every blessing God has placed within our reach for the deliverance of those in danger.”

God’s Workmanship

Considering that:
“God is the owner of the whole man. Soul, body, and spirit are his. God gave his only begotten Son for the body as well as the soul, and our entire life belongs to God, to be consecrated to his service, that through the exercise of every faculty he has given, we may glorify him.
The Youth’s Instructor, September 7, 1893. HL 9.1

“From the first dawn of reason the human mind should become intelligent in regard to the physical structure of the body. Here Jehovah has given a specimen of himself; for man was made in the image of God.
Unpublished Testimonies, January 11, 1897. HL 9.2

“The living organism is God’s property. It belongs to him by creation and by redemption; and by a misuse of any of our powers we rob God of the honor due him.
Unpublished Testimonies, August 30, 1896. HL 9.3

“We are God’s workmanship, and his word declares that we are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made.’ He has prepared this living habitation for the mind; it is ‘curiously wrought’, a temple which the Lord himself has fitted up for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.”
Special Testimonies On Education, 33. HL 9.4

And, that:
“Man was the crowning act of the creation of God, made in the image of God, and designed to be a counterpart of God…. Man is very dear to God, because he was formed in his own image. This fact should impress us with the importance of teaching by precept and example the sin of defiling, by the indulgence of appetite or by any other sinful practise, the body which is designed to represent God to the world.”
The Review and Herald, June 18, 1895. HL 10.2

Have you ever wondered why it is that:
“The wonderful mechanism of the human body does not receive half the care that is often given to a mere lifeless machine.” –?
Gospel Workers, 175. HL 10.3 –?

Well, it is all because:
“The obligation we owe to God in presenting to him clean, pure, healthy bodies is not comprehended.”!!
Unpublished Testimonies, May 19, 1897. HL 11.2
